Techkinect partnered with the City of Sharonville to design and implement a modern, fully integrated AV and recording system for their caucus room—transforming the space into a reliable, easy-to-use environment for meetings, collaboration, and public transparency.
Starting from a blank construction phase, we delivered a complete design-build solution that unified audio, video, control, and recording into a single streamlined system. The infrastructure included dedicated structured cabling to a centralized rack, creating a clean, scalable backbone that supports long-term performance and future expansion.
The room features a multi-display layout anchored by a large-format 98” commercial display, supported by additional displays positioned for full-room visibility. A beamforming ceiling microphone, in-ceiling speakers, and PTZ camera system provide clear, consistent audio and video capture—eliminating common issues like poor intelligibility and uneven coverage.
At the core of the system is an Atlona Velocity control platform with a custom-programmed touchscreen interface (included as part of the solution), designed specifically for non-technical users. The interface provides one-touch control of sources, displays, audio, and system functions—reducing training time and eliminating operational errors.
A key enhancement to the system was the implementation of an Extron SMP111 recording platform, replacing a traditional streaming encoder approach. This allowed us to build a fully customized recording workflow directly into the touchscreen, including:
- Clear “Recording In Progress” visual indicators
- Dedicated start/stop recording controls
- Real-time system status feedback for staff confidence
- Simplified operation without requiring backend interaction
This level of integration ensures meetings are consistently captured without relying on manual processes—reducing risk of missed recordings and improving accountability.
Additional features such as wireless presentation, USB/HDMI connectivity, and centralized control further streamline how the room is used on a daily basis.
